A couple of Sundays ago (I’m behind when it comes to web stuff…Ugh) I spoke on a willingness to follow the leading and directing of the Holy Spirit…How it means relinquishing control and learning to trust.  It’s not easy…In fact, it’s very difficult but it’s the only way that I know to discover the full adventure, challenge and rewards that life can offer.  One of the ways that I attempt to remind myself of this is to pray a prayer every day that offers my life to God and to the great story that God is writing in and through me.  This is a version of a prayer that John Wesley encouraged me to pray…I’ve rewritten it to make sense in modern English and to make sense in my life.

Will you join me in praying this pray every morning?

“I don’t belong to myself, but I belong to You, God.

Open my life to what you’ve asked, Send me to love all of your people

Let me work for You or walk with me through suffering.

Let me be fruitful for You or rest with You,

Let my life show Your glory or humble me if that’s what I need.

Let me be full, let me be empty.

Let me have all things, let me have nothing.

I fully offer my WHOLE life to your sending and directing.

And now, power and awesome God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

You are mine and I am Yours.

So be it.

Amen.”

BEWARE!  If you pray this prayer and mean it, God might just actually use you in redeeming the world and bring about a new kind of Kingdom.  Are you in???
